Monomethylamine (MMA) is the simplest primary alkylamine, appearing as a colorless gas with a strong ammonia-like or fishy odor. It is commonly produced together with Dimethylamine (DMA) and Trimethylamine (TMA) during the methylamine manufacturing process.
Monomethylamine serves as an important intermediate in the production of numerous industrial chemicals and specialty compounds, including N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP), Monomethylethanolamine (MMEA), Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), Metam Sodium, Triazines, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and other chemical intermediates.
Commercially, MMA is available as either anhydrous liquefied gas under pressure or aqueous solutions of various concentrations.
